Overview

iTrip is an application that allows users to organize their own trips on their own and directly from their mobile phones, centralizing all the information in one place. Planning a trip is something that requires gathering a lot of information and prior planning.

Talking to users and looking at the current market, we see that many users want to organize their own trips, but they feel lost and are afraid that their trip won't be good if they plan it by themselves.

Overview

Yampi is an e-commerce platform where you can create a virtual store and integrate the checkout into your business. When a customer adds products to the cart but leaves the site without completing the purchase, the so-called abandoned cart occurs.

People working with e-commerce reach out to customers who have abandoned their purchases to convert them into paid orders. This is a task that takes time and also requires understanding why the customer abandoned their purchase.

Discovery process

My goal

I understand that there is a business opportunity and also a chance to improve the experience for those who want to plan their own trip.

My goal was to understand more deeply what the difficulties of these people are and explore how we could solve these problems.

Discovery process

Desk Research

I started my process by seeking to have a greater context about who plans their own trips. I tried to understand the motivations of these people and also what problems they are currently facing with other competing products.

Users like to have the freedom of choice and especially for saving money.

"Those who enjoy organizing their own trips rarely travel any other way."

Competitor analysis

To complement my Desk Research, I researched the behavior and experience of other apps and websites that helped people organize their own trips.

Interviews

After having a broader context about the subject, I felt the need to talk with people who have organized their own trips. In total, 6 people participated in an interview lasting approximately 40 minutes.

We talked about various aspects involved in organizing a trip, such as transportation, accommodation, documents, and itinerary. The most valuable insights for me were:

No matter the quality of your planning, unforeseen events happen.

You will discover various places while heading to another destination.

People would like to know where they could save money.

The solution

iTrip

To design this new experience, I tried to pay attention to 3 main points that users showed to be crucial for good planning and that they enjoy the process:

Flexibility

People want to have as much control over their decisions as possible.

Money

People want to know how much this trip is costing them.

Changes

The itinerary can be changed several times, even during the trip.

UI Design Process

Motherboard

I sought inspirations for products related to travel and also those that were close to the functionalities I would develop.

UI Design

Travel Mode

How can we overcome unexpected events that occur during travel? This line of thought gave rise to the Modo Viagem.

Users can make quick changes to their itineraries and also search for other nearby activities.

Transport

To provide greater flexibility for users, I decided to open up transportation options so that we are not limited to flights only. This gives users more freedom to organize their logistics.

Accommodations

It is important that the place where the user will stay helps with the logistics of their trip. Therefore, I have added two sections: "where the hotel is located" and "what is nearby."

Script

The itinerary is the part of the organization where the most changes will occur, even during your trip. It is important for users that it be something quick and practical.

Impact

Validation

The design of these experiences is just the first step in the development of this product. We must analyze metrics and conduct user tests, A/B tests, and collect data in any other way.

Therefore, having knowledge of this information is of utmost importance for the development and growth of this product and for the users.
